In the latest sign of his ascent to superstardom, Benson Boone was featured throughout Wednesday’s episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Boone appeared in the cold open, sat for an interview with host Jimmy Fallon and performed his emotional ballad, “Momma Song.”
Much has been made of Boone’s signature backflips. Fallon began the latest installment of his late-night talk show with a skit in which he attempted the acrobatic feat to impress the pop star. The host had little success and instead wound up crashing through a table.

Benson Boone spoke about his backflips while chatting with Fallon. “I’ve been doing them forever,” Boone explained when asked if the moves are planned. “If you knew me growing up and you saw a video of me now and you hadn’t seen anything else — if you went to preschool with me and then you just had not heard the name Benson Boone since then — and then you see a video of me doing a backflip, she’d probably be like, ‘He’s still doing this?'”
The singer looked intrigued when Fallon asked, “can you do a flip right now?” Boone stood up, hopped aboard Jimmy’s desk and pulled off the move with a full rotation.
Benson Boone also responded with one-word reactions to some of the key moments of his magical last 12 months. Additionally, Boone discussed the “moonbeam ice cream” lyric in his song “Mystical Magic,” the meaning behind the title of his forthcoming sophomore album, American Heart, and previewed his arena tour in support of the record.
Boone was accompanied by a full band and a string section for his stirring performance of “Momma Song.” The recent single appears on American Heart, which is set for release on June 20.
