Beastie Boys Team With Sonos For Sonos Play:5 Beastie Boys Edition Speaker

On October 30, Beastie Boys will release their long in the making Beastie Boys Book. In conjunction with the memoir, Adam “Ad-Rock” Horovitz and Michael “Mike D” Diamond have teamed up with Sonos on a limited edition Sonos Play:5 speaker, with all proceeds going to charity.

The surviving members of the iconic hip-hop act collaborated with San Francisco-based painter and graffiti artist Barry McGee on the design. “Beastie Boys always adapted their style to each moment, and the albums get better with time. I wanted to use graphics in the same spirit – something abrasive that rewards a closer look. The speaker has a pretty contemporary and clean design, so I used a pattern that disrupts the front of the speaker, but still complements it,” McGee said in a press release.

The new speaker will be debuted during the Beastie Boys’ upcoming book tour where fans will be able to win a special signed version of the speaker. Priced at $499, the Sonos Play:5 Beastie Boys Edition speaker will be available for purchase this December via Sonos’ website, at their New York City flagship store and via select retailers.
