On December 31, 1969 and January 1, 1970 Jimi Hendrix said goodbye to the ’60s and hello to the ’70s at the iconic Fillmore East in New York City by presenting a group he dubbed “Band Of Gypsys.” A number of performances from the shows were captured for the 1970 live album Band Of Gypsys, which turned out to be the last album Hendrix authorized before his death. A handful of our favorite performers will come together on July 13 at BB King Blues Club in New York City to pay tribute to Band Of Gypsys.

The group performing material from Band Of Gypsys will be made up of Roosevelt Collier (The Lee Boys) on pedal steel, Jennifer Hartswick (Trey Anastasio Band/Jennifer Hartswick Band) on vocals/trumpet, Ron Johnson (Gregg Allman Band/Warren Haynes Band) on bass and Adam Deitch (Lettuce/Break Science/Pretty Lights Live Band) on drums. It’s not often you see a Hendrix tribute that doesn’t feature a guitarist. This quartet will take the stage after midnight on the 13th, allowing fans heading to the Phish show on Randall’s Island earlier in the evening to attend.

Tickets are currently available via the venue’s website.
