Early next month cable channel AXS TV will broadcast performances from the New Orleans Jazz Fest, marking the first time the event has been simulcast in its 43-year history. Today, AXS TV has announced the artists scheduled to appear through the national broadcast and there are many JamBase favorites.
Billy Joel, John Mayer, Phoenix, Widespread Panic, Daryl Hall and John Oates, Gary Clark, Jr., Willie Nelson & Family, Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue, Gipsy Kings, Ben Harper and Charlie Musselwhite, Better Than Ezra, Laura Bell Bundy, Galactic, Marcia Ball, Ivan Neville’s Dumpstaphunk, Anders Osborne, Bonerama, Marc Broussard, and Cowboy Mouth are among the acts expected to appear throughout AXS TV’s coverage.
The channel, which is owned by Mark Cuban, will broadcast from the festival between Friday, May 3rd and Sunday, May 5th. AXS TV’s coverage will begin each day at 3pm ET/Noon PT and will wrap up around Midnight ET/9pm PT for a total of 25 hours of live music over the three-day period.
UPDATE: The list of what bands the channel will show on specific days has just been announced. We’re glad to see Page McConnell and The Meter Men listed. Some performances will air live while others will be tape-delayed.
