The Avett Brothers and Mike Patton served as the musical guests on the Wednesday night episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live. The siblings and Faith No More/Mr. Bungle frontman teamed up for a performance of “Disappearing” from their collaborative album, AVTT/PTTN.
AVTT/PTTN arrived last November featuring eight new original songs co-written by Mike Patton, Scott Avett and Seth Avett, along with a cover of “The Ox Driver’s Song.” The Avetts and Mike Patton kicked off an extensive tour in support of the LP in April. A second and final leg of the run begins tomorrow, May 8 in San Francisco.
Mike Patton and The Avett Brothers were accompanied on Kimmel by Seth and Scott’s bandmates — bassist Bob Crawford, cellist Joe Kwon, drummer Mike Marsh, fiddler Tania Elizabeth and keyboardist Bonnie Avett-Rini. The same ensemble forms the AVTT/PTTN live band that continues to wind their way through North America.
Scott Avett handled the bulk of the lead vocals on “Disappearing.” Mike, Seth and Scott join voices for stunning harmonies on the choruses and other parts of the ethereal song.
