All three 2021 inductees have appeared on ACL four times or more.
Wilco, Lucinda Williams and Alejandro Escovedo are the Austin City Limits Hall Of Fame Inductees for 2021. The storied live music program will celebrate the new Hall Of Fame members with a concert on October 28 at ACL Live at The Moody Theater in Austin.
Austin City Limits is honoring its Hall OF Fame inductees in 2021 after an absence in 2020 due to the pandemic. Both Wilco and Lucinda Williams have appeared on Austin City Limits four times making their debuts in 2000 and 1990 respectively. Texas music great Alejandro Escovedo made his first ACL appearance in 1983, during the first decade of the show, and has since appeared on the program four more times.
Each artist issued their reaction to the honor. Read them below:
“We would have been stunned had we known we were even being considered for this honor,” Wilco frontman Jeff Tweedy said. “Such a singular group of absolutely essential artists to get to be a part of. Austin City Limits has been a cornerstone of the American musical landscape longer than any of us can even remember. Absolutely floored, we are. Thank you thank you thank you!”
“What an honor!” Lucinda Williams said. “Austin City Limits was behind me in the very early days when almost no one else was. Now, here we are over 30 years later! That makes it all the sweeter.”
“Austin City Limits has always been an integral part of my musical journey,” Alejandro Escovedo added. “I’ve taken part in five tapings and each one has been an extraordinary experience, from the producers to the crew and sound people who have always made me feel part of their family. Thank you for this honor, Austin City Limits.”
More guests are expected to be announced for the star-studded induction ceremony on October 28, which is open to the public with tickets on sale Friday, July 9 at 10 a.m. CT. Head here to purchase.
