Audio & Videos: Oteil Burbridge’s Bureau Of Sabotage Play Biscuit Fest 6
By Scott Bernstein Apr 3, 2017 • 7:01 am PDT
Dead & Company bassist Oteil Burbridge had a busy weekend in Florida as not only was he an artist-at-large at Fool’s Paradise, he also brought his Oteil Burbridge’s Bureau Of Sabotage project to The Funky Biscuit in Boca Raton. Burbridge’s band played The Funky Biscuit on Saturday night as part of the venue’s Biscuit Fest 6 event.
The Bureau Of Sabotage features Oteil along with the Disco Biscuits keyboardist Aron Magner, former DSO/Furthur guitarist John Kadlecik and drummer Jeff Franca of Thievery Corporation. Kadlecik and Magner handled most of the vocals with Burbridge chiming in from time to time. The band was joined by special guests Ron Holloway on saxophone and guitarist Jason Hosier for large portions of both sets.
Oteil Burbridge’s Bureau Of Sabotage led off the first of two sets on Saturday with “Cats Down Under The Stars” and then presented “Feel Like A Stranger.” Holloway made his first appearance of the night for takes on “Sugaree,” “We Can Run” and “That’s What Love Will Make You Do.” Hosier added to the latter tune as well as the “China” > “Rider” pairing that ended the opening the stanza. The band focused on Grateful Dead classics for the duration of the second set with the exception of a Kadlecik-sung rendition of “Walking In Your Footsteps” by The Police. Burbridge will bring the band to San Francisco next for a performance at the Bicycle Day event on April 19.
