As The Crow Flies Debuts The Doors Cover In Los Angeles

The first and perhaps only As The Crow Flies tour is nearing the end. On Wednesday night, vocalist Chris Robinson, guitarists Audley Freed and Marcus King, drummer Tony Leone, bassist Andy Hess and keyboardist Adam MacDougall played the Wiltern Theatre in Los Angeles. The evening concluded with a cover debut as the encore.

As The Crow Flies continues to perform a similar mix of gems from the Black Crowes’ repertoire each night along with a few choice classic rock covers. Chris Robinson told Rolling Stone there are no future plans beyond the tour ahead of the run, “It’s only these shows. We’re not going in the studio. We’re not unleashing another leg at the end of this. It is just a little celebration of those songs with this group of people.” Last night’s concert saw the group run through “Remedy,” “She Talks To Angels,” “Wiser Time,” “Thorn In My Pride” and more from the Crowes’ back catalog. ATCF also fit in “Sometimes Salvation,” which they performed for the first time one night earlier in Las Vegas.

Classic rock covers performed on Wednesday included Joe South’s “Hush” and CSNY’s “Almost Cut My Hair.” For the encore, As The Crow Flies honored the legendary Los Angeles-birthed rock band The Doors by unveiling their take on “Peace Frog.” The Doors originally recorded the song for 1970’s Morrison Hotel. Robinson introduced it as “a special Los Angeles encore.” The tour continues on Friday night in Oakland.
