As The Crow Flies Brings Inaugural Tour To Philadelphia
As The Crow Flies features Chris Robinson joined by guitarists Marcus King and Audley Freed, keyboardist Adam MacDougall, bassist Andy Hess and drummer Tony Leone. The six-piece focuses on songs from The Black Crowes’ catalog with a few covers thrown in. Wednesday’s show varied from Tuesday’s tour opener at The Capitol Theatre with the additions of Crowes’ tunes “Sister Luck” and “High Head Blues.” ATCF performed the Crowes’ “Nonfiction” and Ann Peebles’ “I Can’t Stop The Rain” at The Cap and not at the Electric Factory.
While Chris Robinson plays guitar during shows with his main project, the Chris Robinson Brotherhood, he puts his full attention on frontman mode with As The Crow Flies. The sextet worked through many Black Crowes’ gems in Philadelphia including “Remedy,” “Twice As Hard,” “Good Friday” and “My Morning Song.” Once again, the group covered CSNY’s “Almost Cut My Hair,” fit “Hush” into “Hard To Handle” and encored with “I’d Love To Change The World” by Ten Years After. “Wiser Time” was an improvisational highlight of the evening as the song was expanded to nearly 18 minutes in Philly.
As The Crow Flies now heads to the Wanee Festival in Live Oak, Florida.
