Arcade Fire Honors The Cranberries & Welcomes Preservation Hall Jazz Band In Dublin

On Friday night Arcade Fire kicked-off a six-night tour of the United Kingdom and Ireland with a gig at the 3ARENA in Dublin. The anthemic indie-rockers delivered a 23-song career-spanning show that featured a bust out, honor The Cranberries’ late lead-singer Dolores O’Riordan and welcome opening act Preservation Hall Jazz Band during their encore.
The Montreal-based band is performing in an intimate “in the round” set up for this tour, which saw them offer up selections from all five of their studio albums focussing the bulk of their setlist on songs from Funeral, The Suburbs and last year’s Everything Now. Midway through their main set, Arcade Fire dusted of “Neighborhood #4 (7 Kettles)” playing the tune for the first time since 2011.
After opening up their encore with “We Don’t Deserve Love” Win Butler & Co. paid their respects to The Cranberries Dolores O’Riordan, who passed away earlier this year, by playing a portion of the Irish band’s breakthrough hit “Linger.” Shortly after Arcade Fire had the members of the Preservation Hall Jazz Band join them on stage to help them close out the night as they teamed up “Everything Now” and “Wake Up.”
