Buffalo-based band Aqueous continues to unveil waves of tracks from their new studio album Color Wheel, which is due out on October 12. The quartet’s second wave features music inspired by a diverse batch of artists including Kendrick Lamar, Daft Punk, Gorillaz, Incubus and Fleet Foxes.
Up first is “Split The Difference,” a track described by Aqueous as “our first official excursion into a more hip-hop/electronic-based feel; the band has long been inspired by artists like Kendrick Lamar, Nas, Daft Punk, Gorillaz, etc, and this track felt like a natural and exciting step in that direction.” The four-piece also shared the indie-prog-inspired title track which “was written as a way to address the growing disparity between having an authentic human experience vs. the idealized version people present themselves as on the internet, and how unfulfilling and dark it can be for a person’s psyche.”

Also included is the group’s first ballad, “Good Enough.” The song is said to be “a reflection of recognizing and accepting one’s flaws and eccentricities, and trying to come to terms with them while realizing that those very characteristics are the root of a lot of the struggle in one’s life.” Listen to Wave II of Aqueous’ Color Wheel:
