Say Goodbye: Watch Dave Matthews Have Unruly ‘Fan’ Thrown Out Of DMB Show In Camden

Dave Matthews has lots of love for the Dave Matthews Band fan community and is protective of those who attend his shows. When a seemingly drunk audience member created a scene in the pit on Friday at Camden, New Jersey’s Freedom Mortgage Pavilion, Matthews lost his cool and had the concertgoer kicked out of the show.

The incident took place during “Recently,” the ninth song of Friday’s concert, the first of two nights across the Delaware River from Philadelphia. Saxophonist Jeff Coffin was taking a solo when Dave noticed a disturbance in front of the band. Matthews pointed out the gentlemen causing the issue and told him to leave the show both verbally and with hand gestures. The 56-year-old singer-songwriter made sure security had the man removed before focusing on the rest of “Recently.” All the while the band performed the classic song as at no point was the music stopped.

Redditor FelineSoLazy wrote a comment describing the situation which is line with other fan reports about the incident. A large gentlemen moved aggressively through the crowd with FelineSoLazy picking up the story as the man reached the rail:

The big dude bulldozed through the entire pit to get to rail, causing a scene as he stepped on feet, jostled people, bumped around like an aggressive pinball. He was wearing a solid black shirt with yellow letters that said ZEROFUCKS. Because of his big & tall size he thought he could push & intimidate those around him. Until he got to a guy (with his lady) who was also his same size. That guy stood up to him & while those 2 almost came to blows, this lady Chrissy on the rail called for security.

One of the women jostled in the incident purportedly put a comment on a DMB fan Facebook page detailing the incident from her point of view. “Unfortunately, a guy was stumbling through crowd and almost walked straight into me,” the comment attributed to an anonymous user began. “My fiancé put his hand up to protect me and the guy tried to pick a fight. This was our 1st time in the PIT! Dave doesn’t put up with that shit!!” Matthews waved and graciously pointed to the couple who had to deal with the raging concertgoer before he left the stage for the encore.
