Warren Haynes Jams With Dave Matthews Band On ‘Cortez The Killer’: Multi-Cam Video

By Scott Bernstein Dec 5, 2018 11:50 am PST

Guitarist Warren Haynes reunited with his old friends the Dave Matthews Band for a two-song sit-in at Madison Square Garden in New York City on Friday night. Videographer ChesterCopperpot5 collected clips from 10 different sources and paired them with taper audio to create a fantastic multi-cam video of Haynes jamming with DMB on “Cortez The Killer” by Neil Young.

Warren first performed with Dave Matthews at the Ritz Power Jam in New York City on February 5, 1993. Haynes then made his initial appearance on a DMB stage at Wetlands Preserve in NYC on August 19, 1993. The guitarist has since sat-in with the group over 50 times. “Cortez The Killer” is a favorite for DMB/Warren collaborations as Friday night was the 11th time the musicians performed the song together. Friday’s version spanned well beyond 15 minutes and featured plenty of fretboard fireworks from both Haynes and Tim Reynolds. The guitarist also added to the “Tripping Billies” that followed. Watch the recent “Cortez The Killer” with thanks to ChesterCopperpot5 and all who contributed to the supercut video:
