Angel Olsen & Maxim Ludwig Share Rollicking Lou Reed Cover For Upcoming Tribute Album
Hear the singer-songwriters tackle “I Can’t Stand It.”

Angel Olsen and Maxim Ludwig shared their cover of Lou Reed’s “I Can’t Stand It.” The track is set to land on the upcoming album, The Power of the Heart: A Tribute to Lou Reed, arriving via Light In The Attic on vinyl and CD on April 20th for Record Store Day as well as on digital platforms.
The Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards previewed The Power of the Heart with a cover of the Lou Reed-penned, Velvet Underground classic, “I’m Waiting For My Man,” which arrived in celebration of the late VU frontman’s birthday.

Angel Olsen and Maxim Ludwig — who toured together last year — turned to Reed’s solo output covering “I Can’t Stand It” off Lou’s 1972 self-titled debut solo album, a “punk-drunk, loved-up performance,” as per press materials for Power of the Heart.
“Lou Reed is my earliest influence, my introduction to punk rock. This song was a great opportunity to creatively work with Maxim,” Olsen stated.
“Lou Reed is why I write songs, why I read books, and why I stand up for myself,” Ludwig added.
