By Andy Kahn Aug 17, 2016 • 12:50 pm PDT

The latest installment of NPR Music’s Tiny Desk Concert live music video series features a performance by Anderson .Paak & The Free Nationals. The eclectic collective leader played three songs from his 2016 sophomore LP Malibu and a cut from his 2015 EP Link & Suede.
The compact, stripped-down set began with the Malibu cut “Come Down.” It was followed by fellow album tracks “Heart Don’t Stand A Chance” and “Put Me Thru,” which show off a range of influences mixing elements of jazz, funk, soul, R&B, hip-hop and rock. The four-song set featuring the drumming bandleader, keyboardist Ron Avant, guitarist Jose Rios and bassist Kelsey Gonzalez concludes with a fan-requested rendition of “Suede.”
