Legendary singer-songwriter Bob Dylan will serve as the inspiration of a new television series being developed by Amazon. Reportedly called Time Out Of Mind, the program will feature characters inspired by the lyrics of Dylan songs.

According to Variety, writer-director Josh Wakely secured the rights to utilize Dylan’s massive songbook as source material for the series. The Lionsgate TV project, named after Dylan’s album released in 1997, supposedly plans to detail “two characters or story threads from Dylan songs that wind up colliding in some way.”

The new Dylan-inspired series joins another in-development Amazon project that includes Grateful Dead guitarist Bob Weir as executive producer for the show based on veteran Dead crew member Steve Parish’s book Home Before Daylight: My Life On The Road With The Grateful Dead. Wakely is also producing a series inspired by The Beatles for Netflix called Beat Bugs that will include Eddie Vedder, P!nk, Sia and others covering songs by the Fab Four for the show.

Dylan will soon release a just-announced new album – his second set of covers made famous by Frank Sinatra – Fallen Angels via Columbia Records on May 20. This summer he’ll tour with renowned vocalist Mavis Staples tapped to support. An all-star lineup of musicians will gather in Nashville for a two-night Dylan Fest concert event celebrating Dylan’s 75th birthday at the Ryman Auditorium on May 23 and 24.
