Amanda Shires shows off a number of potential ways she’ll be celebrating the start of 2022 in the music video for “What Are You Doing New Year’s Eve?” The song is one of 11 tracks featured on the singer-songwriter’s recently released holiday album, For Christmas.
Frank Loesser’s “What Are You Doing New Year’s Eve?” is one of two covers included on For Christmas which arrived via Silver Knife/Thirty Tigers on November 12. The album also contains an evil-tinged “Silent Night” along with nine originals penned by Amanda Shires.
For Christmas was produced by Lawrence Rothman. Shires recorded the album at Nashville’s Sound Emporium Studios this past July with bassist Jimbo Hart, pianist Peter Levin, drummer Fred Eltringham and guitarist Pat Buchanan. Additional contributors include gospel quartet The McCrary Sisters who appear with Shires on Ellen tomorrow (Tuesday, December 21).
Amanda Shires co-directed the “What Are You Doing New Year’s Eve?” visual with Deren Ney, a musician and artist who previously played guitarist in Nicki Bluhm & The Gramblers. Watch the video below:
