Amanda Shires Releases ‘Nobody’s Girl’ Rocker ‘Piece Of Mind’

Amanda Shires shared a new single, “Piece of Mind.” The track is set for the singer-songwriter’s upcoming album, Nobody’s Girl, due out on September 26 through ATO Records.

Nobody’s Girl is Shires’ first solo album in three years and first since her divorce from Jason Isbell.

“Nobody’s Girl is what came after the wreckage, the silence, the rebuilding,” Shires stated upon announcing the new LP. “It’s about standing in the aftermath of a life you thought would last forever and realizing no one is coming to save you.”

Amanda previewed Nobody’s Girl with “A Way It Goes” in July and now follows with the rocker “Piece of Mind.”

“This one came when I was finally done being polite about pain,” Shires said of her new single. “I wrote this song because I never got closure. Piece of Mind became the place I said everything I didn’t get to say. Writing it gave me an ending. Not tidy. Not bitter. Just mine.”

The track features Amanda on fiddle as well as contributions from Nobody’s Girl producer Lawrence Rothman on guitar/synth, Fred Eltringham on drums, Joe Kennedy on piano/guitar and Shires’ former 400 Unit bandmate Jimbo Hart on bass.
