An upcoming installment of AXS TV program The Big Interview features The Allman Brothers Band co-founding guitarist Dickey Betts. Dickey talks with host Dan Rather about his return to the road in the first look clip from the episode, which airs on Tuesday, December 18 at 9 p.m. ET.

Dickey Betts recorded his appearance on the program before he underwent brain surgery following a freak accident at his home in Florida. Betts ended his retirement earlier this year after hanging up his guitar in 2014. Rather asked Dickey about his decision to re-enter the spotlight. “I missed it. I just done it so long… I really started missing being on the road and, you know, getting out and doing things like this. Meeting people,” Betts explained. “I feel kinda like Tiger Woods coming back. [After] four-and-a-half years, I’m really trying to play par, ya know. I don’t think you ever quite feel like you’re there, but I’m getting’ better at it.” Watch the clip below: https://players.brightcove.net/5553822109001/BJLFl7EsM_default/index.html?videoId=5976074968001

The guitarist, who celebrates his 75th birthday today also discussed the legacy of The Allman Brothers Band and his role in keeping it going, his relationship with Gregg Allman, his songwriting process and many other topics.
