The Allman Betts Family Revival Tour rolled into The Ryman Auditorium in Nashville on Monday night. Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash’s lone appearance on the tour took place on the storied venue’s stage and featured his participation in playing several The Allman Brothers Band favorites.
The Allman Betts Family Revival embarked on its eighth annual tour earlier this year. Organized by The Allman Betts Band — the group led by Devon Allman and Duane Betts, sons of ABB co-founders Gregg Allman and Dickey Betts — the tour features a variety of special guest participants celebrating the legacy of The Allman Brothers Band. The concert at The Ryman included Robert Randolph, Larry McCray, Luther Dickinson, Maggie Rose, Jimmy Hall, Lamar Williams Jr., Sierra Hull, Sierra Green, Jake Shimabukuro, Grace Bowers, Lindsay Lou, Jackie Greene and Donavon Frankenreiter among the guests appearing onstage.

Slash’s appearance came at the end of the evening’s second set and began with “Trouble No More,” the song by legendary bluesman Muddy Waters that was a staple of The Allmans repertoire. Slash then linked up with Robert Randolph as the pair traded licks during the subsequent “Dreams” excursion. A blistering run through “Whipping Post” brought Slash’s contributions to the show, and the second set, to an energetic end.
