Back In The Saddle: Aerosmith Teases Return To The Stage

Aerosmith is hinting at a return to the stage more than two years after retiring from touring. A video posted Monday shows “Aerosmith & Friends” on the Hollywood Bowl marquee alongside dates of October 29 and November 1, though full details remain pending after a second teaser arrived Tuesday.

The original clip promised “all will be revealed tomorrow” at 7 a.m. PT. Instead, the band shared outtakes from the video at the appointed time with the caption, “Should’ve known letting Steven do the marquee would take a few takes… More tomorrow.” The new post points to further information on Wednesday, October 7.

Steven Tyler stars in the teasers alongside rock photographer Ross Halfin. The Aerosmith frontman climbs a ladder to affix letters to the Los Angeles venue’s marquee while Halfin helps with the spelling.

“Do you even know how to spell Aerosmith?” Halfin asks. “It’s ‘& Friends’, Ross,” Tyler responds. “Aerosmith AND friends.” The clip includes a snippet of “Sweet Emotion” and ends with the promise of more information.

Halfin also asks Tyler whether he misses performing as the pair enjoy smoothies and look at the marquee. “Of all the things I ever missed, I miss my mind the most,” the singer replies.

Aerosmith’s Peace Out farewell tour lasted just three shows before Tyler fractured his larynx during the band’s September 9, 2023 concert in Elmont, New York. The tour was postponed and rescheduled before Aerosmith canceled the remaining dates and announced their retirement from touring in August 2024, citing Tyler’s inability to fully recover from the injury.

Tyler has made occasional live appearances since the injury, including a May 2024 performance of “Mama Kin” with The Black Crowes in London. The Hollywood Bowl teasers suggest a return under the Aerosmith name, though the band has yet to detail the lineup or ticket information.

Page Six reported Tuesday that an unnamed source described Tyler’s vocal cords as being in “great” shape. The outlet also reported that special guests were being finalized, with several rock musicians in talks to participate.
