Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler Returns To Stage For Fierce ‘Mama Kin’ With The Black Crowes

The Black Crowes were joined by surprise guest Steven Tyler during their concert last night in London. The Aerosmith frontman’s appearance on a riotous “Mama Kin” marked his return to the stage after suffering severe vocal chord damage last September.

Aerosmith was just three shows into a farewell tour featuring support from The Black Crowes when Tyler sustained the injury. The farewell Peace Out Tour was postponed and recently rescheduled for September 20, 2024 through February 26, 2025.

The Black Crowes vocalist Chris Robinson alerted the crowd at London’s Eventim Apollo the band wanted to dedicate the final song of the night to “a dear friend and a hero and a legend, Mr. Steven Tyler” in advance of The Crowes returning to the road with Aerosmith later this year. The group then began their first-ever performance of Aerosmith’s 1973 classic “Mama Kin.”

Steven Tyler emerged just before the first verse to rapturous applause from the audience. Robinson handled the first line before giving the mic to Tyler. The two frontmen shared lead vocal duties on the rollicking “Mama Kin.” Steven Tyler seemed in good shape after months of rehabbing his voice.

Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page was also at last night’s concert. Page hit the road with The Black Crowes for 11 shows in 1999. A total of 55 concerts were planned but Page canceled the rest of the trek due to what he deemed back issues.

The Black Crowes are touring in support of Happiness Bastards, their first studio album of new material since 2009. The tour moves on to Newcastle, England on Friday.
