The Turkuaz horn section of tenor saxophonist Greg Sanderson, baritone saxophonist Josh Schwartz and trumpeter Chris Brouwers were a constant presence at last month’s Peach Music Festival at Montage Mountain in Scranton, Pennsylvania. The trio sat-in with moe., Little Feat, Aqueous and others over the course of the event. Umphrey’s McGee welcomed Greg, Josh and Chris for a memorable three-song appearance on July 20 and videographer MKDevo captured the collaboration in stunning 4K resolution.
Sanderson, Schwartz and Brouwers emerged towards the end of Umphrey’s McGee’s late night set on the main Peach Stage. The nine musicians lit into a cover of The Rolling Stones’ “Bitch” which was a first for Umphrey’s. “We’ve been waiting to do that one for a long time,” UM guitarist Brendan Bayliss told the crowd about the Sticky Fingers classic. Next up was a sizzling version of Umphrey’s original “Attachments” before the ensemble ended the set with a crowd-pleasing cover of Peter Gabriel’s “Sledgehammer.”
