Last June, Umphrey’s McGee gathered at the famed Abbey Road recording studios in London for a one-day recording session and on April 7 we’ll hear the resulting 10 tracks they walked away with when The London Session is released via the band’s own Nothing Too Fancy Music label. The London Session will come out just 10 months after Umphrey’s released their last studio album, Similar Skin.

Watch a trailer for Umphrey’s The London Session:

The London Session is currently available for pre-order and those who purchase the LP will receive a free download of “Bad Friday.” The new album features a mix of UM classics such as “Out Of Order,” “Glory” and “Plunger” as well as more recently debuted tracks “Bad Friday,” “No Diablo” and “Comma Later.” There’s also a version of The Beatles’ “I Want You (She’s So Heavy)” included, the first time a cover has graced one of the band’s studio albums. Umphrey’s recorded the album over 12 hours at Abbey Road’s legendary Studio 2, where The Beatles laid down most of their studio work.

Rolling Stone’s David Fricke wrote about Umphrey’s day at Abbey Road that led to the release of The London Session. The piece included the premiere of the LP’s “I Want You (She’s So Heavy)”:
