I have gone to this fest the past two years and will definately be there again this year. The Derek Trucks Midnight Jam last year was the shit and I am really hoping Randolph comes out with the Brothers. If you are considering going to this fest you should definately go because you won't be disappointed.

Great lineup, Beautiful setting....I might make the trip from Colorado for this one....Only problem is Southern Law Enforcement.....Gotta go through some pretty sketchy states....Plus the Pigs have been out in full force at Springfest and MagnoliaFest....They were even using night vision just to spy on people who were partaking, and arrested them for simple possesion. I didn't even know there were states that still arrested for possesion. Most just give a ticket these days.

Great Venue. Beautiful place with what I thought was
pretty laid back security. Went the first year and not
last year, but making the trip from SoCal to go back.
Love the golf carts they rent out that people shoot around
in the middle of the night with. One of my favorite
venues with 2 night of ABB and Mule, Yep.

the arrests are news to me, but should be expected in Northern Florida. Other than that, Suwanee Music Camp is one of the most incredible venues not only in the south, but perhaps the entire world. Definitely Definitely worth it.

OH YEAH! it's a really laid back scene at this fest. yeah there were some undercover guys inside last year, but it's two double O seven, so you're gonna have that. $115 for two nites of ABB, G-Mule, and a special mid-nite set with dTb and Susan Tedeschi! then plus the other great bands playing! you can't beat that with a stick. i'll be there, you can bet on that. everything was reasonably priced too, so that's another plus. if you smart enough and smooth enough, you can sneak some brews in as long it not in a bottle. ya feel?

I've wanted to attend this festival for the past two years. But now its between langerado and wanee I'm assuming this festival doesn't have the amount of people that langerado will have?

I went last year and I found the local law enforcement to be really cool about the whole weekend. I don't know about any other state or federal agencies that were there - I did hear tales about folks getting detained by DEA agents though. Like everywhere else you go, play it cool, don't deal in the open or blatently act like a fool and you usually get left alone. Remeber that this place is right off of I-10 and I-75 which are the drug traffic highways in the south. But I digress, this isn't about a weekend of drug induce debouchery - IT'S ABOUT THE MUSIC!
This is a great venue and a great lineup (once again), if folks are paranoid about getting busted then they might consider staying home (no offence towards anyone intended).
We should all be grateful that we get a down home family reunion with the Allman Brothers family and leave it at that.

This festival is much smaller scale than Langerado. They do a great job of incorporating the festival experience with the music, as there are lots of shade trees and hammocks arond the ampitheatre stage. They also offer electric-water hookup for those who like to camp in style (and they're not too strict about people tagging along with their friends.

Security will be present, with police ready to arrest anyone who brings drugs into the stage area. However, the security presence is more of a function of the smaller crowd than anything (less people = less safety in numbers). There are undercovers, but the harrassment factor is low to non-existent(no car searches or gate pat-downs), which is really all you can ask in today's day and age. I went to Wakarusa and Magnolia Fest last year, and while people were arrested at both, the police force at Suwannee in no way resembles a small army like at Waka. Just use your head, be mindful of families with small children in attendance, and everything will be fine.

I'd also reccomend bringing at least a day's worth of food, as the vendor selection isn't nearly what it would be for a Langerado. Also (and I gotta admit this is super-lame) be sure to print out the lineup and schedule before you go, as last year they did not hand out paper schedules once you were inside.

All in all, this will be a great lineup and a great time. Suwannee is one of the few (if only) venues I leave feeling more physically relaxed than when I entered. Jambase, thanks for finally showing some love to an awesome festival/venue.

Also, FWIW, If I had kids, this would be one of the few festivals in which I'd feel truly comfortable bringing them along.

great place to party and to have a festival ... but...the lineup looks really weak. northern florida is all about the rock and no funk / groove.

This festival just gets better and better every year. It is good to see them bring back RRFB and the addition of Keller is sick. If you check their site they have Keller playing on the Mushroom stage which is the stage built into the woods, which should be perfect for a night show. I would recommend this fest to everyone, it has one of the best atmospheres around. I will say all this law enforcement talk is new to me though. This will be my third year and I have never had a problem. The first year the security guard sat there and watched me smoke then told me it was all cool with him he was “just here to listen to the Brothers.” And last year I actually had a cop take the pipe away from us but do nothing more than that. We actually joked with her in between Gov’t Mule an ABB and she said she would give it back if se hadn’t already radioed it in. Maybe others have had different experiences however I couldn’t sing higher praises.

sounds like a lot of fun, i might head down this year. even though the allmans are still awesome, i have a hard time with them calling themselves ABB without dickey. oh yeah, marcsmall1: "sketchy southern states?", don't act like an idiot and they won't arrest you.

mobile is pretty much northern florida, and this city is funk. if u cant tell, this lineup is pretty much the a-bro's family. in my book, that's a pretty good thing. oteil and the peacemakers are doin some good things these days.

Sister Hazel? That's interesting...not quite like the rest of the bands on the lineup. they aren't much of a jam band, although I enjoy their music and have seen them live before. They put on an OK show.

I'll be there. sure it is a mostly rock lineup, but its not being billed as anything else. like kaiserbun said, its abb family and friends so thats what your gonna get. I too am glad to see keller on the lineup, and not being billed as a headliner.....I mean the dude is awesome but just not enough substance for a mainstage. all this talk about security is useless, I've never heard of any horror stories from this fest. I've heard of people doing somthing that most would view as stupid and getting fined or arrested....but as far as this statement "Plus the Pigs have been out in full force at Springfest and MagnoliaFest....They were even using night vision just to spy on people who were partaking, and arrested them for simple possesion." that is just false........far from full force.....this happened once, at wakarusa, in Kansas......were not in kansas anymore, brah.

looking forward to this april.....Peace Yall!!

Look, OBVIOUSLY there is gonna be some undercovers there. There might be one sitting next to you right now for all you know. I think we've beaten that dead horse into mush by now. Just deal with it and don't act like a dummy and Wanee Law will take it easy on you. I personally have yet to see an officer (undercover or otherwise) in the 2 years I've been at this venue. They really let you have a good time. So if you're comin' here to rage and act like an ass and ruin the rest of our good times, stay your complainin' posterior at home. I hope no one is discouraged from coming by a few people who THINK they are in the know as to the workings of police in Live Oak (the town in which this fest is located.) Come on down to Fla., be discreet, and have a great time. You will unless you run around like some schizo freak imagining police everywhere whose only goal is to arrest you. Man, some of you people need to go join an anti- government militia or something and give those of us who just wann chill by our fire and listen to the sounds of the greatest music on earth waft through the stately old oaks at the Wanee Festival. Bring your good vibes and I'll see you there. Hope to meet all of you in person. (Ohhhh I must be a cop trying to put a sting on you!!! BOOOOOOOO! BOOOOOO!!!)
J.B.

p.s.--wish there was a 30 so I could do the news of this fest justice in the rankngs, but I guess I'll go with 5.

How's the camping...snug or cool? What's the weather like that time of year. Obviously warm, but has it rained in the past years? Either way, looks pretty chill.

flyingbird--the camping is quite chill. it's camp by your car too. there is lots of space so folks aren't typically all over you like it can be other places. you can go way back in the wood if you want. it's all open. being an actual music park, the facilities and grounds are kept up nicely. they even clean the dreaded porty poos a couple of times a day. get there when the gates open thursday afternoon and snatch up a good spot that's the way to go. not that there are any bad spots. oh and the entire camping area is shaded. weather 1st year was cold as hell, but moderate the second. never can tell about southern weather. no rain as of yet (knock on wood)

Great weather, awesome campground, super chill vibe and of course great tunes. Even if it isn't a dream lineup, its worth it. I finally saw the light last year.

Jumping in the river, laying in a hammock watching Derek Trucks, jamming to Devon Allman in the campgrounds at 3am, sleeping in the cool shade right next to the main stage....whats not to like??

I was searched while making eggs. Someone at my site was partaking, when three undecovers came by and confiscated everything and proceeded to search me when I was just trying to make breakfest. It was at the SCI 420 show a few years ago. Other than that this is the best place to experience a festy.

I've been to the past two Wanee's, Myself and everyone we camped with had no problems with Police or Security. They checked our bags while coming into the concert area but they never searched very hard. After awhile the people would know you and stopped searching us. (Vodka a plenty came in). All and all im very happy with Wanee & Swanee itself. Beer was priced very very well compared to other venues. The food prices not so much so. $6 for just a cheeseburger is wayyy too much but we cooked all of our food so it didnt bother us much. I'm going this year and cannot WAIT......

Go to this show - the venue is worth it alone. Best venue I have ever been to by far. Super chill, great camping, the river + rope swing. The Allmans are gonna rock your face. They need to have more festivals here. Watch out for the fat redneck and his loser friends pushing fake doses.

Greenman---Unfortunately, you are mistaken....The Suwanee County Sheriff's was out in plain clothes for 3 years in a row at springfest. They even had a paddywagon at the front gates to take people down the the cop shop...and yes, they were processed and held until they posted bail....Most states do not do this...Most just give a ticket that you send in by mail and never even see a cxourtroom....But not down south....As for Kansas, I have only driven through on my way back home to Colorado. Brah.

"unless you run around like some schizo freak imagining police everywhere whose only goal is to arrest you."

I'm not a paranoid person, but this happened to me last year at Wanee. Only because I ate way too much good dose. And it was very brief. But man, when I got scared, I was TERRIFIED! It was the best and worst trip I've ever had. I mean, Derek Trucks, late night, Spainish moss everywhere, oaks, party lights, bubble machines, swampy vibes, hammocks, full moon...

And on the other end of the spectrum, I wigged towards the end of the set. There is nothing wierder than "getting away from the cops" on a head full of acid, and then finding yourself leaning on a van that gets backed into, and then running away and ending up finding an electric band playing in the middle of the street with a lightshow and everything hooked up to the battery of their van (Shak Nasti). They played 2 nights at their camp by the way. They'll probably be there again, so watch out. They're extra FUNKY!

But anyways... BEST VENUE EVER. BEST FESTIVAL EVER. NICEST FOLKS EVER.

THIS FEST MAY AS WELL BE CALLED WAKARUSA SOUTH. I'M NOT KIDDING ABOUT THIS PEOPLE. ANYBODY WHO SAY'S JUST BE COOL AND DONT DO ANYTHING STUPID AND YOU'LL BE ALLRIGHT KNOWS NOTHING ABOUT WHAT GOES ON AT THIS FESTIVAL.
1. HOW ABOUT HAVING SOME (UNDERCOVER)GIRL COMING UP TO YOU AND ASKING YOU IF SHE CAN BORROW A BOWL (EVEN IF YOUR NOT USING ONE AT THE TIME). YOU WHIP ONE OUT FOR HER, SHE SAY'S "OH NO THANKS" AND YOU GET ROLLED UP ON BY THE COPS AND AWAY YOU GO.
2. DO YOU LIKE THE PIGS GOIN AROUND THE CAMPGROUND AND LOOKING THROUGH TENTS WHILE YOUR AWAY AT THE SHOW? YOU'LL LOVE THIS FEST.
3. BE SURE TO SAY "CHEEEEESE". PRETTY MUCH EVERY CAMPSITE THAT THEY CAN DRIVE BY GETS A WONDERFUL SOUVENIER PHOTO TAKEN FOR THE SUWANEE COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE.
4. OH AND MY FAVORITE. I JUST LOVED SEEING A 60 YEAR OLD WOMAN TACKLED TO THE GROUND AND HAVING AN ASSHOLE PUT A KNEE ON HER BACK JUST FOR PARTAKING IN THE BIG FIELD (THIS HAPPENED IN FRONT OF MY FACE).

THERE IS NO BEING CAREFUL, DONT BE STUPID, OR WATCH YOUR BACK AND YOULL BE OK AT THIS FEST. THE SUWANEE COUNTY SHERIFFS OFFICE WILL DO ANYTHING TO SET YOU UP, ENTRAP YOU AND KEEP YOU IN THEIR JAIL. IF YOU CANT PAY BAIL YOU'LL BE IN THERE A LONG TIME. THERE ARE STILL PEOPLE IN THEIR JAIL FROM LAST YEARS WANNEE, SRINGFEST, AND MAGNOLIAFEST. WANNEFEST IS THE #1 REVENUE STREAM FOR SUWANEE COUNTY. STAY OUT OF SUWANEE COUNTY, STAY AWAY FROM THE WANNEE FESTIVAL. I'LL SHELL THE EXTRA CASH TO GO TO THE BEACON AND JAZZFEST TO SEE THE BROTHERS.

"STAY AWAY FROM THE WANNEE FESTIVAL." ???? THIS is a RIDICULOUS statement! Are you going to this fest just to partake in the drugs or going to enjoy some fabulous music at a GREAT venue? Please stay away if you are that INTO drugs. I used to enjoy most drugs but have since stopped. I have had my 3rd eyelid torn off at this place before and it was a spiritually moving xprence: kinda made me come to the realization of quitting my illegal habits. Either way, go to enjoy the music and nothing will go wrong.
