In Association with Domino Publishing and Entertainment Weekly

JamBase/Press Here Party :: French Legation Museum
03.15.08 by Kayceman
If you were in Austin for SXSW over the last three years, then you’ve probably heard about (or been to) our party – The Garden Party – which has grown to become one of the most fun parties in Austin. Set on the green grounds of the French Legation Museum, The Garden Party has always provided a welcome respite from the SXSW madness, along with sets by some of the festival’s most critically-acclaimed and talked-about bands. In past years, our parties have been *the* place to see established artists such as Thurston Moore, Kimya Dawson, J Mascis, Okkervil River and Gruff Rhys of Super Furry Animals, as well as prominent up-and-comers like She & Him, Bat for Lashes, Lavender Diamond, Lightspeed Champion and more. To make it an even more glorious experience, there were burgers, free ice cream, a full bar, and, of course, that gorgeous lawn for lounging, listening, and taking in some sunshine while your new favorite band plays.

This year’s party continues the tradition of parties past with an eclectic lineup of some of the best talent SXSW has to offer. Press Here and JamBase are proud to announce our lineup for the party’s fourth incarnation – again called The Garden Party – which will be taking place on SATURDAY MARCH 21 on the grounds of the French Legation Museum once again. With our special co-hosts – Entertainment Weekly and Domino Publishing – plus our sponsors Pabst Blue Ribbon and Converse – we’ve confirmed an exciting and buzz-worthy bill that will knock your socks off, continuing our tradition of introducing the most thrilling new bands to music fans first.

Starting at noon and ending at 8 p.m., The Garden Party proudly presents:

Dirty Projectors (Brooklyn, NY)
Melissa Auf der Maur (Montreal, QC)
Laura Marling (London, England)
The Soft Pack (San Diego, CA)
Wild Beasts (Leeds, England)
Chief (Brooklyn, NY)
Diane Birch (Portland, OR)
Jeremy Jay (Los Angeles, CA)
Moriarty (Paris, France)
Frank Fairfield (Los Angeles, CA)

With a full bar and food vendors on-site, The Garden Party is the most lovely and comfortable destination for you & your SXSW-wearied friends. Kick back in the sunshine and watch some fantastic bands on the grounds of the oldest and most beautiful colonial house in Texas!

Where is it? On the grounds of The French Legation museum, a short walk from the main drag of 6th street or the music venues on Red River – between 8th and 9th streets – just one block east of the I-35. Address is 802 San Marcos Street, Austin, TX. Everyone who rsvp’s will receive a street map.
