At this summer’s Gathering Of The Vibes, The Disco Biscuits will team with Grateful Dead drummers Mickey Hart and Bill Kreutzmann for a set at the festival. Apparently tDB are gearing up for the performance already as last night they covered a Dead song at Irving Plaza in NYC.

The Disco Biscuits are currently in the middle of a three-night stand at Irving Plaza and after taking Throwback Thursday to the extreme for the first night, Friday’s second show of the run saw the band debut their take on “Viola Lee Blues” to kick off the closing stanza. The quartet offered their own spin on the early Dead tune, complete with a lengthy jam. Just as they did on Thursday, tDB opened last night’s show with another four-song first set.

Here’s a look at the setlist from last night’s show:

Set One: Above the Waves > Mindless Dribble > Crickets > Home Again

Set Two: Viola Lee Blues, Kamaole Sands > Confrontation (inv) > Kamaole sands, On Time > Story of the World (inv) > Spacebird

We’ll be sure to keep our eyes out for video or audio of tDB’s “Viola Lee Blues.” UPDATE: The first fan-shot video of the cover (and the entire second set) comes courtesy of Matt Yates:

In the meantime video of nearly all of Thursday’s show has surfaced thanks to Matt Yates:
