Dave Grohl Says New Foo Fighters Album Contains Epic Jams

Over the past few weeks we've learned much about the new Foo Fighters album. The as-of-yet untitled LP is due in November and features songs that were each recorded in different cities with different local legends guesting. One piece of info has us particularly excited to hear the new album - in an interview with David Fricke of Rolling Stone, Grohl reveals the LP contains only eight songs yet is the band's longest album to date due to its "epic jams."

"It's an eight-song album, but it's gonna be our longest album – because there are some epic jams. When you get Joe Walsh with you out in the desert, it's not going to be a three-minute pop single. It gets a little weird," Grohl told Fricke. So far we know that Walsh, Gary Clark Jr., Cheap Trick's Rick Nielsen, Carrie Underwood, Chuck D and Butthole Surfers' Gibby Haynes are among the guests on the new Foo Fighters album. Plus, there's the band's surprise show in New Orleans, so perhaps a NOLA legend or three have participated. We'll likely find out soon.

The new Foo Fighters record will be accompanied by an eight-part HBO series dubbed Sonic Highways that documents the recording process. A recently-released trailer for the show gives us our first taste of the new LP:
