Opening Night | Paul McCartney Dusts Off Beatles Classic
By Scott Bernstein Apr 20, 2014 • 11:50 am PDT

McCartney treated over 45,000 fans at Montevideo, Uruguay’s Estadio Centenario to a whopping 40-song set that mixed material from his time in The Beatles and Wings as well as from his solo career. The big surprise of the evening was a performance of the Let It Be track “One After 909.” Paul had only played “One After 909” with his solo band five times in the past, with four of those performances taking place in 2010. New, which was released back in October, was represented by four songs including the title track, “Queenie Eye,” “Save Us” and “Everybody Out There.” Last May McCartney played five Beatles songs for the first time during the Out There! tour opener. Three of those tunes -“Eight Days A Week,” “All Together Now” and “Being For The Benefit Of Mr. Kite” -were performed last night, while “Lovely Rita” and “Your Mother Should Know” were not.
