While we await the expected return of prog legends King Crimson, we wanted to look back at a performance the group laid down at The Arena in Frejus, France on August 27, 1982. The lineup for this show featured guitarist and vocalist Adrian Belew, guitarist Robert Fripp, bassist Tony Levin and drummer Bill Bruford.

King Crimson was opening for Roxy Music on that fateful night and the prog greats’s set was filmed for Swedish TV. The band released the footage, though as far as we can tell it’s long out of print. Belew shows off his versatility by engaging in a drum duet with Bruford and a guitar duel with Fripp. The set has been noted as a favorite by many fans over the year thanks in part to the outstanding footage that really shows off the on-stage magic the quartet made that evening. Let’s check it out:

Tracks: Waiting Man, Matte Kudasai, The Sheltering Sky, Neil and Jack and Me, Indiscipline, Heartbeat, Larks’ Tongues in Aspic Part II
