Happy 65th Birthday Skunk Baxter | Doobie's What's Happening

It's been a busy week for birthdays and that trend continues today as it's guitarist Jeff "Skunk" Baxter's 65th Birthday. Baxter is best known for his work with both Steely Dan and The Doobie Brothers. The Washington, D.C. native went on to pursue a career as a defense consultant.

If you were a child of the '70s or '80s your first encounter with Skunk might have been the guitarist's appearance with the rest of The Doobie Brothers on the sitcom What's Happening!! in 1978. The Doobies were featured on a two-part story in which Raj, Rerun and Dwayne are desperate to see the band when they come to town to play at their old high school. Poor Rerun gets talked into bootlegging the concert, which doesn't end well when the recorder he was using falls to the ground. Watch The Doobies's appearance on the show including performances of "Black Water," "Take Me In Your Arms" and "Takin' It To The Streets":
