The Strokes took to social media to reveal they have a new album entitled Reality Awaits on the way. Details were scarce other than that the LP is due out this summer.
“In The Flesh, It’s Even Sexier,” reads the text at the start of a teaser video formatted to look like a magazine ad for a car straight out of the early ’80s. Music which may or may not be from Reality Awaits plays throughout the short clip. The visual ends as the car drives away with a note proclaiming, “Out This Summer.”
The New Abnormal, The Strokes’ last studio album, was released in 2020. As such, Reality Awaits will be the group’s first new record in six years.
The Strokes returned to the stage on Saturday for a concert at The Warfield in San Francisco. Tonight, the band plays San Francisco’s Bill Graham Civic Auditorium as they continue to warmup for their appearances at Coachella on Saturday, April 11 and Saturday, April 18. Headlining sets at Bonnaroo, Minnesota Yacht Club, Outside Lands, Shaky Knees and several other festivals follow over the coming months.
