Neil Young To Issue Live At The Cellar Door 1970

Back in August we shared the news that a new Neil Young live archival release was on its way, but at the time we weren't sure exactly when it would come out. We hadn't heard anything about Live at the Cellar Door until today as the set has finally been officially announced.

Live at Cellar Door will be released on November 26. Young's latest Archives Performance Series installment compiles recordings from Neil's six-show solo run at Washington, D.C.'s famed The Cellar Door venue between November 30 and December 2, 1970. The shows took place just a few months after Young put out his third solo album, After The Gold Rush. We're excited to hear a rare solo version of "Cinnamon Girl" performed on piano rather than guitar, as well as a number of tracks from After The Gold Rush including "Tell Me Why," "Only Love Can Break Your Heart," "Birds," "Don't Let It Bring You Down" and the title track. There's also solo takes on Buffalo Springfield songs "Expecting To Fly," "I Am A Child" and "Flying On The Ground Is Wrong." In addition we get "hits" "Old Man" and "Down By The River" on the Neil-produced set.

Here's the tracklisting for Live At The Cellar Door:

Side One:
Tell Me Why

Expecting To Fly
Bad Fog Of Loneliness
Old Man
Side Two:
Don't Let It Bring You Down
