Metallica Pays Tribute To Mariano Rivera At Yankee Stadium

Every time baseball legend Mariano Rivera enters a game at Yankee Stadium he is greeted with a recording of Metallica’s smash hit “Enter Sandman.” The reliever is retiring at the end of the year, which makes it likely today will be Rivera’s last day donning the team’s familiar pinstriped home uniform. To honor Mariano the Yankees put together a tribute before today’s game which featured Metallica performing “Enter Sandman” as Rivera emerged from the bullpen.
Two members of Metallica wore pinstriped jerseys bearing the word “Metallica” instead of the usual interlocking NY. The band performed on a stage set up in center field and later presented Mo with a custom amp. Here’s a look at a few different angles of the live “Enter Sandman”:
