Ryan Montbleau To Sing National Anthem At Fenway Park

Singer-songwriter and Ryan Montbleau Band front man Ryan Montbleau has been to a ton of Boston Red Sox baseball games since he was a child as his father was a season ticketholder from the time Ryan was nine until he turned 24. Montbleau has never hidden his love for his favorite team, so we can only imagine how excited he must be to have one of his dreams come true when he sings the National Anthem at Fenway Park on Friday night.

When the Red Sox lost to the New York Yankees in a heartbreaking Game Seven of the 2003 American League Championship Series, Montbleau penned a song about the stunning loss called “Champions Of Glorious Defeat.” Just one year later, when the Red Sox avenged their defeat and beat the Yankees on the way to the team’s first world championship in 86 years, Montbleau rechristened the song “Champions” and took special pride in performing it for New York fans.

The Boston Red Sox take on the Toronto Blue Jays this Friday, with the game set to start at 7:10 p.m.

UPDATE 9/20: Montbleau has shared this video, recorded by Paul Hoffman of Greensky Bluegrass, of his Fenway Park soundcheck:
