Allman Brothers Welcome Grace Potter And Members Of Nocturnals At Great Woods

The Allman Brothers Band's summer tour rolled into Mansfield, MA last night for a performance at the Comcast Center that featured support from fellow JamBase favorites Grace Potter & The Nocturnals. Potter once again sang "The Weight" with the Allmans, just like she did on Wednesday. However, this time around a few of Grace's Nocturnals' band mates got in on the act.

The Nocturnals offered a lengthy set for an opening band that included covers of "Friend Of The Devil" by the Grateful Dead and blues standard "Mystery Train" as well as original staples "Nothing But The Water" and "Medicine." The Allman Brothers Band continue to keep their setlist rotation tight this summer with "Blue Sky," "Midnight Rider" and "One Way Way" each performed last night for at least the eighth time over the course of the short tour. Potter emerged towards the middle of the set accompanied by Nocturnals drummer Matt Burr and guitarist Benny Yurco to join the Allmans for a rendition of "The Weight" by The Band. Later in the evening Nocturnals guitarist Scott Tournet and drum tech Rachel Turner sat in with the ABB on another cover of "Feel Like Breakin' Up Somebodys Home" - the seventh take on the tune this tour. Gregg Allman and Co. ended their set with the "1983 (A Merman I Should Turn To Be)" / "Mountain Jam" mashup before a "One Way Out" encore brought the show to a close.
