The 2nd annual Joshua Tree Roots Music Festival is happening October 20 and 21 at the Joshua Tree Lake Campground, in the shadows of the infamous National Park. This rootsicana newgrassy folkadelic experience is for music loving souls of all ages. The music is continuous, alternating on two stages in one bowl, creating an intimate festival experience. Temperatures in the magical Mojave desert in October are ideal!

The festival lineup includes The Avett Brothers, Hot Buttered Rum, Uncle Earl, The Greencards, Dan Bern, South Austin Jug Band, Jake Shimabukuro, Martha Scanlan, Merle Jagger & Tim Easton, Carolina Chocolate Drops, Reverend Peyton's Big Damn Band, the Everybodyfields, Bluehouse, Honky Tonk Train, and the Trespassers.

Plenty of on site camping. Children of all ages are welcome. The festival village includes Organic Foods, World Market, KidsVille, Art Installations, the Love Train, daily parades and more. The music begins at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, and goes til late. On Sunday, music goes from 10:30 a.m. til sunset. Dance under the stars and howl at the moon in this awe-inspiring high desert environ!

check out rev. peyton's big damn band from indianapolis. i stumbled onto them a few years ago at summercamp and have been a fan ever since. they played high sierra this summer and everyone there was really diggin it from the set that i saw- started small and grew the entire set. old school delta blues with a new school twist. the song your cousin's on cops is particularly funny. have fun everyone.

this is going to be a great show!! I was there last year and have been to the last three May Festivals...good times! The Avett Brothers will be there and one of my favs Hot Butterd Rum. also Jake Shimabukuro...can't wait to get to the desert!
