Zach Bryan Steps In It & Then Off X After Backlash From Swifties
“I’m sorry to any Taylor fans I pissed off or let down.”

Zach Bryan found himself in hot water on Tuesday night when he tweeted: “Eagles > Chiefs, Kanye > Taylor, who’s with me.” It turns out, there weren’t many people with him as he enraged Taylor Swift (and Kansas City Chiefs) fans.
The backlash led the country singer to delete the post and deactivate his X account. Bryan spent the past few days in apology mode for “drunkenly” making the comparison to Swift’s archnemesis Kanye West.

Zach Bryan shared apologies on X and Instagram about his tweet. The post on X disappeared along with the rest of his account. “For the record guys I wasn’t coming for Taylor the other night. I was drunkenly comparing two records and it came out wrong,” Bryan wrote on Instagram. “I know there’s a lot of stuff that clouds around Ye and I was speaking purely musically. I love Taylor’s music and pray you guys know I’m human and tweet stupid things often. Hope one day I can explain this to her.”
The Oklahoma native went on to explain why he put his X/Twitter to rest. “Twitter gets me in trouble too much and I’d say it’s best I stay off it. I’m sorry to any Taylor fans I pissed off or let down. Love you guys and I’m trying my best!”
Zach Bryan continued by speaking about a rough patch in his personal life he’s experiencing. “I’ve been going through a hard time in my own life and I think I was projecting a little,” Bryan’s first follow-up IG story started. “To be completely honest, it just came off as rude and desensitized to Taylor. I respect her so much as a musician that the last thing I want is people thinking I don’t appreciate and love what she has done for music. Okay, that’s the last of it! Love you guys and hope you guys understand. Don’t drink and tweet. Don’t drink and tweet!!”

The singer-songwriter wasn’t done yet. “Not saving face here, but Taylor has been a force of nature for as long as we’ve all been growing up and I admire that. I’m gonna go listen to this record now, I never want people to think I have a hint of malice or meanness towards anyone, ever, that’s why I’m saying all this. Everyone have the best day of all time, I love ya,” reads Bryan’s third of four IG stories regarding the incident.
“This year has been an awful lot on me in personal ways that no one knows and I’ve been trying to cope and balance too many things at once. So I’m going to take a breather from tweeting stupid stuff, finish my tour, and ground myself somehow in the midst of all this. I feel very, very blessed each day. Not taking it for granted and holding onto it has been so important to me, Okay, needed to get this off my chest, yall are the best and I’ll see you at Bourbon and Beyond,” Bryan concluded.

The first three Instagram stories showed Bryan was listening to Taylor Swift songs including two from Swift’s 2024 album, The Tortured Poets Department. “Fortnight,” “The Albatross” and “Castles Crumbling” were Zach Bryan’s soundtrack as he was writing his confessionals.
Taylor Swift has not commented.
Zach Bryan returns to the stage on Saturday to perform at Louisville’s Bourbon & Beyond festival. He’ll embark on the next leg of his Quittin Time Tour on November 17.
Bryan was recently tapped as one of the headliners for the 2025 Stagecoach festival. The country star revealed on X (obviously, since deleted) his appearance at Stagecoach “was confirmed a very long time ago” and that he plans to take 2025 off from touring.
