Yonder Mountain String Band Shares ‘Hines’ Finds’ Spring 2018 Live Audio Compilation

Jamgrass quintet Yonder Mountain String Band have unveiled a collection of seven tracks recorded during their recently-completed spring tour. The group enlisted soundman Ben Hines to pick the improv-heavy tunes that made the cut for the first installment of Hines’ Finds, which can be streamed for free via Soundcloud.

Hines’ Finds Volume One begins with a 21-minute “Winds Of Wyoming” recorded at The Depot in Salt Lake City on March 8. Next up, Allie Kral belts out Del McCoury’s “All Aboard” in Eugene on March 17. The compilation continues with the five-piece jamming their own “Fingerprint” into “Girlfriend Is Better” by Talking Heads for a 30-minute track recorded in Grants Pass, Oregon on March 18. Original “Angel,” laid down in Bend on March 21, also spans over 30 minutes.

YMSB played Terrapin Crossroads in San Rafael, California on March 25 and the compilation includes a lengthy cover of the Grateful Dead’s “Fire On The Mountain” from that show as its fifth track. Hines’ Finds from Spring ’18 concludes with a take on recent original “Chasing My Tail” from Yonder’s visit to Hermosa Beach, California on March 8 and a brand new song written by Dave Johnston entitled “Hey Day” played in Tempe on March 31.
