On January 2, 2016 Yonder Mountain String Band debuted a cover of Phish’s “Scent Of A Mule” as part of the jamgrass act’s tribute to the ’90s at the Boulder Theater in Boulder, Colorado. Today, the band has shared video of a more recent take on the Hoist classic featuring contributions from special guest Larry Keel.
YMSB has kept “Scent Of A Mule” in their rotation as the group has performed the Phish song three more times over the course of a Winter Tour that continues tonight in Atlanta. Bassist Ben Kaufmann handles lead vocals on the tune. A recent Yonder performance of “Scent Of A Mule” took place at Jannus Landing in St. Petersburg, Florida on February 5.
