Yo La Tengo will continue their traditional Hanukkah run in 2022. The band will perform each night of the holiday December 18 – 25 at the Bowery Ballroom in New York City.

Yo La Tengo’s Hanukkah concerts have been a beloved tradition since beginning in 2001 at Maxwell’s in Hoboken, New Jersey and taking place there until the venue closed in 2012. After a five-year hiatus, YLT resumed the holiday celebration in 2017 until the present at Bowery Ballroom.

The band took to social media to make the 2022 announcement. Read a note from YLT’s Ira Kaplan detailing the shows below:

Hi everybody,

In answer to the question that at least one person living in the land down under has asked, yup, we’re going to be back at the Bowery Ballroom this year to play all eight nights of Hanukkah. If you’ve celebrated the holiday with us before, you already know that we’ll duct tape the electric menorah to the bass amp, and every night Yo La Tengo will play a set (if history repeats itself, no song will be repeated during the run). There’ll be a comic and an opening band that will be unannounced until doors open each night. And if we can convince anyone else to join in, they’ll be there too. The proceeds will be go to charity. If you haven’t celebrated the holiday with us before, maybe it’s time that you did.

Hanukkah starts on Sunday, December 18 and continues through Sunday, December 25. Tickets are $50 each and will go on sale on Friday, October 7 at 10 am EDT. OK, gotta start practicing!
