Innovative musician Yasmin Williams is featured in the latest installment of The Late Show With Stephen Colbert’s “Late Show Me Music” online performance video series. Williams contributed a performance of “Nectar” from her new album, Acadia.

The nine-track LP was her first for Nonesuch Records. Bred in Northern Virginia, Yasmin Williams is best known for her finger-style guitar work but is also accomplished at several other instrumentals, including banjo, calabash drum and kora. Acadia finds Williams joined by an impressive cast of collaborators, namely saxophonist Immanuel Wilkins, William Tyler on guitar, Aoife O’Donovan on vocals and Dom Flemons on rhythm bones.

On “Nectar,” Williams lays a double-neck guitar across her lap. The virtuosic composer and guitarist utilizes tapping to create a symphony of pretty melodies from the axe. The resulting instrumental is a breathtaking number which stands among Acadia highlights.
