Wooden Shjips Share New Single ‘Red Line’

Psychedelic rockers Wooden Shjips will issue a new studio album entitled V. on May 25 via the Thrill Jockey label. The quartet shared a second track from the forthcoming release, the latest single “Red Line.”

The quartet of drummer Omar Ahsanuddin, bassist Dusty Jermier, keyboardist Nash Whalen and guitarist Ripley Johnson recorded the parts of follow-up to 2013’s Back To Land in Portland, Oregon with Jason Powers at Types Foundry Studio. Additional vocal and guitar tracking was done at Ripley’s nearby home studio.

Here’s how the band detailed the newly posted track:

“Red Line” is indicative of the band’s direction on V., which shows the group shedding darker tones for brightness and optimism, firmly in opposition to the growing clouds of dread that permeate life in America in 2018. A major key riff anchors the track as swirls of overlapping delayed guitars offer an ecstatic release. As the last vestiges of winter recede Wooden Shjips give us the perfect soundtrack to the emerging summer.
