Wilco Welcomes Sleater-Kinney’s Carrie Brownstein & Corin Tucker In Queens
Watch the "A Shot In The Arm" collaboration from Saturday night.
Wilco and Sleater-Kinney brought their co-headlining tour to Forest Hills Stadium in Queens on Saturday night, where the two acts finally collaborated on-stage. Sleater-Kinney’s Carrie Brownstein and Corin Tucker emerged to help sing the “A Shot In The Arm” that opened Wilco’s set.
Both headlining sets were abbreviated due to rain. Sleater-Kinney made it through nine songs before lightning in the area forced concertgoers to evacuate the venue. Fans returned after approximately an hour and Wilco took the stage with Brownstein and Tucker. The Sleater-Kinney frontwomen had previously joined Wilco for a backstage set streamed from Kansas City but Saturday was their initial collaboration of the tour in front of an audience.
Carrie and Corin left the stage towards the end of “A Shot In The Arm” to huge applause as rain fell at a steady pace. Wilco continued on with 16 more career-spanning songs. The band presented a similar setlist to those played throughout the co-headlining run, including such classics as “I Am Trying To Break Your Heart,” “Box Full Of Letters” and “Jesus, Etc.” Jeff Tweedy and company called it a night after closing with a run of “I’m The Man Who Loves You,” “Heavy Metal Drummer” and “I’m Always In Love.”
