Widespread Panic Welcomes Many Guests At Panic En La Playa Seis – Day 4 Setlist & Video
By Andy Kahn Mar 3, 2017 • 6:50 am PST
Last night Widespread Panic played the final two sets of their Panic En La Playa Seis destination event at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Riviera Maya. The finale performance in Mexico featured a number of guest sit-ins as well as bust outs and beloved favorites.
Thursday’s first set began where Wednesday’s action ended by opening with “Sewing Machine” following the “Protein Drink” encore the night prior. Later in the first set WSP busted out “Dirty Side Down” for the first time since 2014. Bassist George Porter Jr., saxophonist/flutist Karl Denson and guitarist Eric Krasno emerged toward the end of the set to sit-in on a cover of “Sell Sell.” Ivan Neville also joined on keyboards for the guest-filled set closing covers of “Use Me” and “Red Hot Mama.”
Bloodkin vocalist Danny Hutchens and guitarist Eric Carter were on stage as Widespread Panic opened their final set of Panic En La Playa Seis with the pair’s “Henry Parsons Died” and “Can’t Get High.” The second set also saw a sit-in from renowned guitarist Col. Bruce Hampton who helped out on the Aquarium Rescue Unit staple “Time Is Free.” That collaboration was trailed by Panic busting out a rarely performed cover of The Rolling Stones’ “Time Waits For No One” for the first time since 2014. “Chilly Water” brought the set to an end and an encore of “Blue Indian” and a rendition of Talking Heads’ “Life During Wartime” put a cap on Panic En La Playa Seis.
Widespread Panic returns to the stage at the Wanee Music Festival being held in Live Oak, Florida on April 20 – 22. View audience-shot footage from last night in Mexico below:
