Widespread Panic continued their New Year’s run at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta on Monday night. The Athens, Georgia-bred band kept with the themed closing segment they started on December 29th with a “timely encore.”

First, WSP, who also clocked the “Most Played Artist Award” at the Fox during the NYE run, got things going with the title track to their 1988 debut album Space Wrangler. The jaunty “Walkin’” followed and then headed into “Rock.” The band then offered up “Pleas” from their 1993 album Everyday before getting into some jams that gave way to “Stop/Go.” “I’m Not Alone” and “Little Kin” followed ahead of the set closer “Conrad The Caterpillar.”

The second half of the show saw Panic really stretching out beginning with “From The Cradle,” which kicked off a continuous set that headed into “St. Ex,” “New Blue,” “Big Wooly Mammoth” and a subsequent jam. WSP kept rolling with “Machine” before heading into “Drums” and picking up where they left off with more exploration, and, according to the fansite Everyday Companion, contained a “The Other One Jam,” seemingly in a nod to the Grateful Dead. The classic “Barstools And Dreamers” finally emerged from the jam and led right into a couple more vintage Panic tunes in “Greta” and ”Fishwater” to bring the set to a close.

As the band had foreshadowed the night before, they delivered a themed encore, this time around with songs referencing time. The first, “Somewhere In Time,” marking just the third time since the song debuted in 2012. “Time Is Free,” which hadn’t graced a Widespread Panic setlist since March 2, 2017 came next. The rollicking classic “Ain’t Life Grand” then closed out the evening. Check out clips of “Fishwater” and “Pleas” below:
