Watch Widespread Panic Perform ‘Heroes,’ ‘Junior’ & ‘Chunk Of Coal’ At Grand Targhee Resort In 2011

Jam titans Widespread Panic unveiled pro-shot video featuring the first three songs from their July 3, 2011 concert on YouTube. A run of “Heroes” > “Junior” > “Chunk Of Coal” began the sextet’s show at the Grand Targhee Resort Amphitheater in Alta, Wyoming.
The videos are the latest in a string of highlights from WSP’s 2011 that have included clips from Athens, Birmingham and Oak Mountain premiered by the group. Panic previously shared “Dirty Business” from the same July 3, 2011 concert.

“Heroes” opened the show in Wyoming. The song was debuted live on August 4, 1993 in Pittsburgh and appeared on the band’s 1994 studio album, Ain’t Life Grand. While “Heroes” has mostly been in heavy rotation since its debut, the tune hasn’t been played live for the past three years.
“Junior,” Panic’s arrangement of a Junior Kimbrough song, also dates back to 1993 and was featured on Ain’t Life Grand. A total of 433 plays have followed through February 28, 2020 as per Everyday Companion. Meanwhile, “Chunk Of Coal” is a Billy Joe Shaver cover Widespread Panic unveiled on July 26, 1995 in San Francisco. “Chunk Of Coal” has been performed occasionally ever since with a total of 109 plays through August 24, 2019.
