Watch Widespread Panic Cover ‘Fixin’ To Die’ At Oakland’s Fox Theater In 2010

Veteran jam act Widespread Panic‘s latest pro-shot video shared on the band’s YouTube channel features an extended cover of Bukka White’s “Fixin’ To Die.” Spanning nearly 10 minutes, Panic’s “Fixin’ To Die” performance came within their first set at the Fox Theater in Oakland on October 16, 2010.
The sextet continues to post videos from both their three-night October 2010 run at the Fox and a pair of February 2011 shows celebrating the band’s 25th anniversary at the Classic Center in Athens. “Fixin’ To Die” was first performed by Widespread Panic on June 25, 1990 as per Everyday Companion. The band has covered the song a total of 105 times through its last appearance on March 31, 2019. Col. Bruce Hampton & The Aquarium Unit also frequently performed “Fixin’ To Die” and Phish played the tune twice in November 1994.
