Watch Widespread Panic Cover War’s ‘Slippin’ Into Darkness’ In 2010

Widespread Panic shared pro-shot video featuring their cover of War’s “Slippin’ Into Darkness” from a 2010 concert in Oakland on YouTube. The band and longtime crew member Steve Lopez performed “Slippin’ Into Darkness” on October 16, 2010 during the second of three consecutive nights at Oakland’s Fox Theater.
Video of all three WSP October 2010 concerts at the Fox were released as downloadable MP4 videos via LiveWidespreadPanic.com as Live In Oakland. Lopez augmented the group on percussion for the 13-minute “Slippin’ Into Darkness” in the middle of the first set on October 16, 2010.

“Slippin Into Darkness” was originally released by War on their 1971 album, All Day Music. Widespread Panic debuted their cover of the song on Halloween 2002 in New Orleans and have performed “Slippin’ Into Darkness” a total of 69 times over the last 19 years.
