In advance of Widespread Panic’s upcoming Spring Tour stop at the Amphitheater at the Wharf in Orange Beach, Alabama this Friday, May 22, fans of the band have dubbed the concert “The Flopper’s Ball” and are encouraging attendees to dress up specially for the occasion. As reported by AL.com, WSP fan and Orange Beach local Michael Butler launched “The Flopper’s Ball” campaign in response to Orange Beach Mayor Pro Tem Jeff Silvers’ previous claim that a prior Panic show at the Wharf brought a “style of living and floppiness” not promoted in the resort town. In addition to the special attire request, Butler is also hoping to shine light on and garner participation in the Panic Fans For Food food-drive held at the show.

Butler told AL.com, “This is a one-night show and I think it’s going to be a very successful show and they’re not going to have to deal with issues they have in the past. Hopefully it changes the perception of the band and the fans as a whole.” “The Flopper’s Ball” has been dubbed a formal affair, with these instructions posted on the Facebook event page: “Ladies, bring out your best Sparkles. Gentleman, dapper as all get out.”
Friday’s night show begins at 7:00 p,m. with special guests Col. Bruce Hampton & The Madrid Express and Bloodkin opening. Tickets are currently on sale here.
